The Inclusion Bar

“Unique bar provides new opportunities …..first-of its kind initiative”

Northside People (West), 29th Sept 2010

The Inclusion Bar is the first of our innovative business enterprises.  The bar design is the first of its kind in Ireland and possibly internationally that was developed to allow for bar staff that have disabilities to be at the forefront of the bar. Check out the videos in ‘Our Gallery’

Commencing in October 2010 in the Axis Centre in Ballymun, the bar was developed by a focus team of people with disabilities.

The unique split level design allows for people to be standing as well as for people that use wheelchairs.  It contains additional features and functions that allow blind and deaf people to serve customers together as a team.  This is done by using the latest technology in which an inbuilt computer, specialised disability software and mobile devices all combine.

Blind and Deaf people working together?

Yes, it is possible for a blind and deaf person to work together behind a bar. It is a question we are constantly asked, as such we have provided these scenarios that will illustrate how it works read here.

The article about The Inclusion Bar was printed in the Northside People on the 29th Sept (Vol.14 Issue#38). You can download a PDF of the article here. Or you can read it online here.

The design of The Inclusion Bar is being registered with the Trade Marks and Designs Registration Office of the European Union.

We would like to thank Aoife O’Neill from Tomkins & Co for all her professional advice and assistance in registering the bar design.

Check out our bar which was on the RTÉ Six One news on Saturday 16th October.

Our Facebook page will feature our bar events, competitions and our online radio broadcasts from the bar so wherever in the world you are, you can be part of the fun also!

Have you ever seen a bar designed that allows a person using a wheelchair to pour a pint ?
